Eliminate Headaches

Many people these days suffer with headaches. Have you ever had head pain that looks like the illustration? The SCM, a muscle that's in the side of the neck, is one of the most probable causes of headaches. To prevent headaches from occurring it is critically important to sleep in the most neutral position possible. This position could include sleeping on the back or on the side as long as the head and neck remain in alignment with the shoulder. One of the worst ways to sleep is on the stomach. This position keeps the head and neck in an extreme rotation, and this in turn puts the SCM muscle on the stretched position for up to 7 hours while we sleep. Trigger Points form and create the referred pattern that you see in this illustration. We can feel headaches building with tension as our work day progresses. We are not helpless, nor do we need to simply reach for over-the-counter medications. Take a few minutes during the day (4-6 times per day) to provide self trigger point pressure release to the SCM muscle. Relaxing, breathing slowly with a long exhale can allow our neck muscles to be less tense. This in turn can prevent headaches from developing. With myofascial trigger point therapy treatment and simple self-care instruction from us here at CCMPR you can learn to eliminate your own headaches first-hand. Give us a call today we are here and ready to help you improve your headaches and overall health. (773)-628-7654
